On November 5, 1997, Dragon Systems announced the Preferred Edition of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  The Preferred Edition falls between the Personal Edition and the Deluxe Edition.  It is sold in standard retail outlets alongside the Personal Edition.

The Preferred Edition is a more expensive, and more fully featured version of the Personal Edition.  The Preferred Edition contains the following features which are not found in the Personal Edition of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

	•	Text to Speech Playback

	•	Playback of Recorded Speech

	•	Mouse Control by Voice Including the MouseGrid

	•	Expanded Options Dialog

	•	Integration with Microsoft Word '97

	•	Direct Dictation into Most Applications

The Preferred Edition is a new product, but if you already have a Personal Edition and you install the Preferred Edition in the same directory, then your existing user will be upgraded for use with the Preferred Edition.
