NaturallyMobile is the name of a set of features which are included with the Preferred Edition and Professional Edition of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
(Note that NaturallyMobile is not automatically installed when you install the Preferred Edition. You will have to install it yourself as an add-on from the NaturallySpeaking CD-ROM.)
The NaturallyMobile set of features makes it easier to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking with a handheld recorder. These changes include:
-- A new General Training program optimized for recorders. Without this change, training Dragon NaturallySpeaking with a handheld recorder was very tedious. You had to read each paragraph of General Training into the recorder, and then play the recorder into Dragon NaturallySpeaking. But now with the new Mobile Training program, you can read the entire story directly into the recorder without having to interact with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Then you play the entire recording into the new training program in Dragon NaturallySpeaking automatically trains are system.
The new Mobile Training program is actually a major breakthrough. The program automatically skips over places where you may mumble or may speak or even lose your place. Once you finish the recording, and play the recording into the Mobile Training program, you do not have to interact with the system until training is finished. The Mobile Training program does it all automatically.
(However, you should be warned that the processing of the Mobile Training program is slower than the processing of General Training. Set aside at least an hour for the processing after you complete your recording.)
-- A new Transcription Wizard designed to allow you to play recordings from a wide variety of recorders directly into Dragon NaturallySpeaking. In version 2.0 Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you could use the Norcom recorder by connecting the earphone of the Norcom recorder to the microphone input of your computer. Using a recorder which transferred its data in wave file format (like the Olympus D1000) was even more difficult. I did distribute a program called PlayWave (PlayWave Program Allows Wave File Input) which allowed you to play a wave file into Dragon NaturallySpeaking. But with NaturallyMobile, the process is more streamlined.
The Transcription Wizard allows you to take input from a wave file, a microphone input, or a line input. And you can specify that the input go directly into the currently active application, or only into Dragon NaturallySpeaking. This latter option allows you to minimize Dragon NaturallySpeaking while the transcription is taking place and use the few remaining cycles of your computer for something like reading e-mail.
The Transcription Wizard also allows you to turn off command recognition, or limit command recognition to only those commands which make sense when using the recorder ("Scratch That" and "Resume With").
-- With NaturallyMobile, the Audio Setup Wizard has been somewhat modified to make it possible to use with recorders. First the Audio Setup Wizard allows you to configure your recorder for using either line input or microphone input. Line input is useful for some recorders like the Sony because it provides a stronger signal. Also, if you are using wave files, you do not have to run the Audio Setup Wizard.
-- NaturallyMobile introduces a new command which is designed for doing error correction with recorders. This command, "Resume With", is described in more detail in the section called What are the New Correction Commands?.
-- Finally, NaturallyMobile also has a new toolbar which has options for correcting your document quickly by listing to playback of your entire session synchronized with the text on the screen. This new correction toolbar is also described in the section called What are the New Correction Commands?.
The goal of NaturallyMobile is to make it more convenient to use recorders with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. And when combined with BestMatch technology, the user recorders is highly accurate as well.
